The World Series of Poker’s (WSOP) 2016 chapter will see some changes being implemented with regards to schedule, timings and events. For one, the widely-popular Big One for One Drop is supposedly NOT a part of this year’s event.

However, there’s still good news. The Big One Drop is slated to take place at some other time in 2016, either at the World Series of Poker Asia Pacific (WSOP-APAC) or the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE). This $1 million buy-in event has been hugely popular with poker players and spectators alike, even though it was started just two years ago. Where it is conducted this year depends on which format gets a go ahead to host it.

This year, the WSOP will see eight new events. These are as follows –

  • $565 Pot Limit Omaha with re-entry
  • $2000 No Limit Hold’em
  • $2500 Mixed Triple Draw
  • $1500 Mixed NLHE/PLO
  • $888 Crazy Eights Eight Handed NLHE
  • $1000 Tag Team NLHE
  • $1500 Mixed PLO
  • $1000 Top Up Turbo NLHE

There are other changes with regards to schedules and timings. For instance, many events will now commence at 11 am and 3 pm. Payouts for bracelet and deepstack events will be increased by 15%, meaning that 50% more players will be paid this year.

All the events will commence with a minimum of five times the buy-in amount. Hence, the $10K buy-in events as well as the main event will start with 50,000 chips. The Millionaire Maker event will give a guaranteed $1 million prize to both the winner and the runner up.

The Little One for One Drop will replace the Main Event as the final event of the series. The Little One Drop has a $1,111 buy-in. Multi-flight events will allow players to register for only one flight at a time. The Casino Employees event will have a single re-entry for all participants. And interestingly, the online events are set to make a comeback this year.

The 2016 WSOP will see the most changes made in the event in its 47 year long history. Excitement sure is riding high among participants owing to this happening.

February 2016: The Rancho Santa Fe Community Centre hosted its “Put Your Hearts on the Table” poker tournament for the fourth consecutive year. The venue was the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club. It has been doing this community work for the past 40 years.

All the proceeds from the poker tournament will help the community centre carry on its work. Apart from live poker, the event also had Bingo, live jazz music, a hosted bar, raffles and some tasty snacks. The sponsors for the event were the Kleege and Fried families and the Naiman Group.

Linda Durket, executive director centre said, “This is always such a fun night and we’re so thankful to all who participated and helped raise important funds for the centre.
