19th November, Goa – When 3.08 crores is the prize money it is not suprising to see high level action between the top poker players battling it out. This was the case for the second season of the World Poker Tournament (WPT) sponsored by Adda52.com which is the largest poker site in India as we speak. However, the competition is heating up and other operators are vying for the top spot in the coming years.
Adda52 was the exclusive partner of the WPT in India and had organized a second season after witnessing a large torn out in the first season held in 2017. The second season was held in Deltin Royale, Goa between 13th and 19th November and was executed with international poker standards, better structures and well-defined tournaments.
For Indian poker players, paying at a WPT Championship is the epitome of a dream as it makes one instantly recognizable in the global poker scene. The 7 day long event is a must attend and included multiple large prize pool tournaments. It was a must attend as can be seen by the huge number of participants coming together from across the country in Goa in order to showcase their skills whilst also enjoy their love for the fabulous game of poker.
The biggest tournament from all in the series was the main event which held a prize pool of Rs. 3.08 crore. There were 697 enthusiasts, one of the largest the Indian sub continent has ever seen, all fighting for the Indian title. Nikunj Jhunjhunwala took home the main titles event with the prize of Rs. 66.35 lakhs.
Adda52 had organized a host of online activities as a prelude to the event. The satellite tournaments were held to generate interest in the community whilst also acting as promotional activities for the company.
It was in April 2016 when Adda52.com first became the official Indian partner for WPT and brought the opportunity to Indian players. The event was then the talk of the town with various celebrities, poker professionals and enthusiasts alike all gracing the event.
Mohit Agarwal, Founder & CEO, Adda52.com said at the event, “The second season of WPT in India has grown even bigger and better with a massive rise in the participation numbers this year – the record-breaking entries is a testimony to that. It has given an opportunity to Indian Poker Players to network at the backdrop of an International arena. This clearly depicts that the poker industry in India is growing at a rapid pace”.
Whereas Angelica Hael, VP of Global Tour Management, World Poker Tour said, “When WPT and Adda52 inked a deal three years ago, we knew that it was going to be the start of a wonderful partnership. Now, with the Deltin Group holding full ownership of the Adda52 brand, we anticipate even more robust partnership opportunities.
